The Association is managed by elected representatives of the growers who work their
respective tenures on an honorary basis. |
Achievements
1. Area extending by 1000 acres every year.
2. Number of people earning their livelihood on
grapes may been in range of half a million.
3. Maharashtra’s share in
nation’s total production is 75%

5. Grapes from Maharashtra reaching all the other
states of India.
6. Because of high percentage of sugar (T.S.S)
they are very well suited for conversion into Raisins (Kishmish)/Juices etc

| Research and
Development |
The association has full-fledged independent R&D wing headed by competent
scientist. Development of grape, pest controls are some of the subjects researched upon.
Assessing the demands and liking of consumers in the foreign market, attempts are made by
association to introduce newer varieties of grapes and conduct research on the same.The R
& D wing is recognized by the Scientific & Technology Division of the Govt. of
India. The Agriculture University of Rahuri has recognized this Association and has
granted it its affiliation. .

Being highly impressed by the quality of
work conducted at the R & D wing, the Govt. of Maharashtra has allotted 11
acres plot at Manjari near Pune for further conducting research on grapes and provide
training to growers who need this service.

| Transferring
Technology to the doorstep of Farmers |
The association regularly conducts
group discussions and seminars for the grape cultivators, which are strategically held at
different locations to facilitate all members, activate participation.

Leaflets booklets covering different topics
of grape cultivation are published. Competent scientists and technologist have been
appointed by the association to guide members free of cost. Further help of scientists
from agricultural universities, National Research center for grapes Pune (ICAR), IIHR, and
other experts on viticulture in India and abroad is sought and thus technology is brought
to the doorstep of the grape growers, always maintaining its thrust on international
quality and standards.
